Himalayan Persian kittens are smart, affectionate, gentle and loving. This Kitten fits that description to a "Tee." He is very playful; he has two speeds: full-on, and totally off! LoL When he's tired, he loves to curl up and sleep next to me. When awake, he will often command my attention either with toys or laser or requests for petting. (His father likes to play fetch, perhaps he will too?)
Generally speaking, Tortoise shell (and/or calico) markings are genetic anomalies, making torti-pointed Himalayan cats quite rare. Their color marking are often unique and strikingly beautiful. Further, most tortoise shell (or calico) cats are female. Being both torti-pointed _and_ male, makes this little guy truly an unusual specimen of the breed.
Some Interesting Facts about the breed -
Himalayan Persians were developed as a result of cross-breeding Siamese with Persian cats in the early xxxxs. The goal was to achieve the Siamese's pointed coloring in an otherwise Persian feline. After years of crossbreeding, The Cat Fanciers' Association accepted the Himalayan as a point-colored variation of the Persian cat. Today their points may range from deep chocolate, to blue, to lilac, to (flame point) red, and of course, tortoise shell.
Like other Persian cats, Himalayan adults are very responsive to human interaction and love to pose, often draping themselves across furniture, window ledges, and laps. :-) Persian cats are by far the most popular breed within the CFA.
As a breed, their laid-back "catitude" generally does best in secure and serene indoor environments. They can adapt to louder homes (e.g., w/ children) with love and attention. Their short legs make jumping difficult, and their quiet voices have been described as melodious.
